ABOUT

Our Story

JUPC, founded in 1964, is one of Asia’s oldest student-run photography clubs and the official club of Jadavpur University. Over the decades, it has earned national and international acclaim, with many alumni becoming leading professionals in the field. What began in a washroom of the Geology Department has grown into a full-fledged club with its own studio, darkroom, and a library rich in books and journals on global photography.

The club runs a structured training program for JU students, with members serving as trainers and guides. It regularly hosts workshops, interactive sessions, and invites renowned speakers to introduce new approaches in photography. JUPC has organized and participated in prestigious events such as national and international salons, contests, and photo-fests, while also undertaking commercial projects, including the university’s convocation photography. Beyond honing photographic skills, the club fosters a vibrant community that connects members worldwide and inspires generations to explore photography with innovation and passion.
