MONTAGE 2026
'Montage' is more than just a contest; it's a celebration of the composite reality we live in. Following the legacy of Bornodrik, Montage 2026 invites photographers to explore the layers of human experience, environment, and emotion. We seek images that challenge the mundane and elevate the extraordinary.

What We Do

THE NORTH STAR
Convocation Photo Service
Our most significant yearly responsibility, the Convocation Photo Service has been on the club calendar for north of fifty years, with the club being the sole organization with the privilege of capturing the moments of every JU student receiving their degree from the dais itself. The logistics of the event are immense, as is the work involved, both leading up to, on the day of, and even after the event.

THE FLAGSHIP
Montage
Evolved from the All India Salons of yesteryear, Montage is our biannual International Photography Competition. The biggest event of the club’s lineup, its impressive scope, involving numerous workshops and an exhibition at prestigious venues, is yet ever expanding, with the recent addition of short films and more submission categories for single photos and photo stories.

THE STEPPING STONE
Bornodrik
The smaller of our two major contests, Bornodrik is an annual photography competition aimed as more of a grassroots event. Open to all, and usually lacking any entry fee, it offers a great opportunity for newer photographers to throw their hat into the ring alongside more experienced names, and gain exposure and experience in the world of photography at large.

THE TRAILHEAD
Basic Training Sessions (BTS)
The inception of most members’ journeys, the Basic Training Sessions are a yearly tradition, serving as both an induction into the club for those interested and as a dive into the world of camera photography for the uninitiated. Consisting of around 6 sessions, theory and practical combined, interested JU students and staff are trained in camera operation, basic principles of exposure and composition, and editing their results.

THE WORKOUTS & THE ADVENTURE
Outings & Rambles
Regular outings involve short trips in and around the city to hone craft and exchange techniques. Rambles are our longer forays, offering a chance to explore the country (from 5 to 10 days) while forming closer bonds and expanding horizons through unfamiliar environments.

THE DAY OFF
Annual Picnic
A club highlight offering members a chance to unwind, take it slow, and reconnect with ex members, with a day of games, food, chit chat, and merriment in a serene location.
THE COLLABORATION
Srijan Events
Collaborating with Jadavpur University's annual techno-management fest, JUPC captures the essence of innovation and culture, documenting the myriad of events and hosting photography exhibitions that showcase student talent.
